The first première staged at the Kraków Variete Theatre was at the same time the first opportunity to see Legally Blonde in Poland, a musical based on the novel of Amanda Brown and the film of the same name.
Elle Woods – a beautiful blonde with an ideal body, who loves pink – is convinced that her life is perfect and carefree. She has a handsome boyfriend, popularity and admiration of everybody. What she does not know is that soon her life will turn high heels up…
The licence was granted by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (the largest and most profitable film studio in the world).
The Polish edition of “Legally Blonde” is directed by Janusz Józefowicz – the director of the Buffo Theatre, and an indisputable king of the Polish musical stage, also appreciated abroad.
The cast includes 34 artists, and among them:
Natasza Urbańska, Barbara Kurdej-Szatan, Mariola Napieralska, Olga Szomańska, Barbara Gąsienica-Giewont, Magdalena Szczepanek, Beata Śliwińska, Katarzyna Ptasińska, Małgorzata Chruściel, Natalia Piotrowska, Gabriela Oberbek, Ksenia Matsuk, Rafał Szatan, Maciej Pawlak, Karol Jasiński, Łukasz Szczepanik, Daniel Chodyna, Jakub Sokołowski, Tadeusz Seibert, Piotr Urbaniak, Tadeusz Zięba and others.
There are also two specially trained dogs on the stage performing their roles in the musical.
Over 200 costumes were sewn to be used in the show.
The literal translation was carried out by Krystyna Podlewska (Christine Paul-Podlasky), and Michał Zabłocki, a renown Kraków poet, screenwriter and video clip director adapted the Polish version of libretto. Zabłocki cooperated with Grzegorz Turnau, Anna Szałapak and Czesław Mozil, who are all renowned artists of the Polish music industry.
Music arrangement and orchestration – Sebastian Bernatowicz – a pianist, composer and orchestrator, graduated from the Academy of Music in Krakow, in 1994.
Stage design of the show is carried out by Marek Chowaniec – a Polish set designer in the theatre, television and film, as well as the vice dean of the Department of Stage Design at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts
